The Monaco cycling federation has confirmed a two-year suspension for Davide Rebellin after the Italian rider tested positive for the banned blood-boosting drug CERA at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The Monaco Cycling Federation has confirmed Davide Rebellin’s suspension for doping. Rebellin has been banned from competition for two years after testing positive for the banned blood booster CERA at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The 39-year-old Italian has always denied doping and has fought the ban all the way. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) dismissed the doping case appeal filed by the Italian cyclist Davide Rebellin against the decision of the Executive Committee of International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Friday. The IOC had disqualified Rebellin from the 2008 Olympic Games and withdrew his silver medal, and with this ruling CAS upheld the decision. Italian cyclist Davide Rebellin will go to sport's highest court on June 17 to overturn his disqualification from the Beijing Olympics for doping and win back his silver medal. Davide Rebellin's hearing before the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) has been re-scheduled for January 22. The previous hearing planned for early December had been postponed due to a scheduling conflict. Rebellin is facing charges of having used the EPO derivative CERA at the Beijing Olympic Games in August 2008.
